From the Principal

Dear Burr Families:

It is with great pride and excitement that I am writing this letter of introduction to you.  I am Jeanne Poleski and I am extremely honored to have been appointed as the Principal of Burr Elementary School. I enter this position with 25 years in the field of education with 13 years in South Lake Schools and 12 years in the East Detroit Schools. Besides my last 16 years as an elementary school principal, my experience also includes that of a classroom teacher, school counselor and a central office curriculum administrator.  I now look forward to working with the Burr community of learners to continue your fine tradition of educational excellence.

As a lifelong learner, I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, a Master’s Degree in School Guidance Counseling, an Elementary Teaching Certificate, a Secondary Teaching Certificate, and a Certificate in School Administration; all from Wayne State University. I continue to take courses at WSU, currently in Instructional Technology.  Learning is my passion and my hobby.

As a mother and educator, I know the importance of getting to know the principal of the school your children are attending. My proudest role is that of a mother to Carolyn (who just completed her freshman year at Michigan State University; Go Green!), Christopher (who is 16 and driving for the first time), and Catherine (who just finished sixth grade).  Now that my husband, Lech, and I no longer have elementary aged children, I am even more excited to be surrounded by elementary children every day at Burr!  From one parent to another, the elementary years go by quickly so enjoy every single one of them.

Offering the highest quality education to your children in a safe and respectful environment is my primary goal.  I recognize that this cannot be accomplished without the help and support of all of our school families and the community at large. I look forward to serving the students and families of Utica Community Schools and working together in this effort. I eagerly anticipate meeting you and your children.  I look forward to building strong partnerships to enhance the educational opportunities and the academic achievement of our students.

I believe in an open door policy and welcome you to stop by and introduce yourself on or after August 10th. I am confident we are going to have a fabulous school year as we learn and grow together to help every child succeed. I will be communicating additional information in the coming weeks regarding the next school year and opportunities for Playdates and Popsicles with Principal Poleski on the Playground! In the meantime, I wish you and your family a safe and happy summer.  Go Bulldogs!

Most Sincerely,

 Mrs. Jeanne Poleski

Principal, Burr Elementary
